The President of Liberland, Vit Jedlicka, was invited as one of the key speakers at the 47th Symposium St. Gallen, in St. Gallen, Switzerland. The pilot and the finanicial advisor Martin Felenda and Liberland’s Honorary Consul in Switzerland Pavel Pospisil joined the official Presidential delegation.
The President landed with Liberland’s ‘Air Force One’ on May 2 and attended first the Bitcit conference in Zug. That evening, he met with major Ethereum and Bitcoin figures in the Zurich restaurant James Joyce. It was a very interesting exchange of ideas about future government built on blockchain technology, discussing potential of platforms as e.g. SwarmCity.
From May 3-5, the St Gallen symposium was held at the site of St. Gallen University. The first evening Vit Jedlicka joined the opening dinner and on Thursday, the president was one of four state presidents and ministers making opening remarks. The main topic of this year’s Symposium was the so-called ‘Disruption Dilemma.’
Speakers and panelists were discussing the phenomenon of the disruption dilemma. Mr. Jedlicka had a one-on-one discussion with the HardTalk presenter Stephen Sackur BBC). Watch the video here:
Mr. Sackur interviewed Mr. Jedlicka live for more than a 1/2 hour. The debate was very challenging for both sides as Liberland is often presented as a joke. At the end Mr. Sackur called Vit the most entertaining president he ever interviewed and wished him the best of luck.
The same day at the afternoon Vit Jedlicka attended a workshop for approximately 20 people and press lead by Mr. Mehdi Hasan from Al Jazeera. Topics discussed were welfare, public education systems and gender equality. After the official program, free discussion with people who were new to Liberland and the people who were really interested lasted until late in the evening.
On Friday, the last of the conference was Vit Jedlicka invited to several interviews.
The St. Gallen Symposium is one of the largest symposium in Europe and we were truly honored to appear as one of the most prominent guests and that we could bring our point of view to the current and future leaders in attendance.
