Introducing Liberland’s Ambassador for World Peace Shyalpa Rinpoche

Shyalpa Tenzin Rinpoche is the newly appointed Ambassador for World Peace, Free Republic of Liberland. He is a revered Tibetan Buddhist master and founder of the Universal Peace Sanctuary in Lumbini, Nepal. His role as Liberland’s spiritual advisor and Ambassador for World Peace embodies the microstate’s commitment to non-violence, compassion, and global harmony. Rinpoche’s recent meeting with President Vít Jedlička in Davos, Switzerland and blessings for the project highlight a unique fusion of spiritual wisdom and libertarian ideals.

It was during the World Economic Forum in Davos last month that he and Liberland President Vít Jedlička spoke at length on bringing about Rinpoche’s World Peace Sanctuary and tying it into Liberland which Rinpoche says is how the world needs to address being peaceful in the future. He applauds how Liberland citizens peacefully coexist with each other and are brought together for the purpose of creating a future society. It was during his meeting in Davos that he was appointed as Liberland’s Ambassador for World Peace, he emphasizes that for a peaceful community and world to appear we must start with being at peace within ourselves before one can dream of accomplishing peace with others. He explained to me the reason why it is called “Universal Peace” and he says that with humans going beyond our planet and attempting to settle the Moon and Mars in the future that we must have peace throughout the entire universe and that this idea of peace must be universal no matter where we are located.

It is through his Universal Peace Sanctuary that he wishes to achieve this goal and with Liberland as the engine that will bring this initiative forward to an even greater audience because we must lead by example and he is confident that is exactly what Liberland is currently doing now. His approach to this quite unique in that he is not coming at this as a Buddhist but rather as a person who wishes to see people living peacefully side by side no matter where they may be located. With Liberland building an entire country from the ground up he sees this as the best way to achieve building a peaceful community of happy people who are coming together to build something greater than themselves. Happiness he says, “must start on the inside, because when we are happy we are at peace with ourselves.”

Through the Universal Peace Sanctuary Rinpoche hopes to create “peace clubs” throughout the world being paired with Liberland representative offices at first and then expanding them into even greater numbers in this way he says we are able to promote meaningful peace from within people and throughout their communities which will bring about peace in larger areas. He also wants Liberland to be the custodian of the Universal Peace Sanctuary in the future as Liberland he says is best suited to be able to promote our idea Universal Peace

Next year in Davos he wishes to host a “peace house” with Liberland and his Universal Peace Sanctuary, he says he is also in the process of establishing a Universal Peace Office in Geneva, Switzerland soon but he does not have the specific updates on that currently. He is also wanting to host a “Universal Peace Forum” that would occur around the same time as the World Economic Forum does and says that peace badly needed for people to be happy inside themselves.

Over the next ten years he sees Liberland and the Universal Peace Sanctuary expanding across the globe to promote Universal Peace.

Author’s note: I interviewed Rinpoche just hours before the Israeli-American invasion of Iran, if there ever was a time when Universal Peace is needed it is now.
